On August 27, 2024, the legendary band Oasis shocked fans with their reunion announcement on X (formerly Twitter). After skyrocketing to fame with their 1994 debut album ‘Definitely Maybe,’ Oasis became one of the defining rock bands of the ’90s. However, internal conflicts between Gallagher brothers Noel and Liam led to the band’s split in 2009. For 15 years, fans everywhere have been eagerly awaiting a comeback.
Now, with the recent announcement of a summer 2025 tour across the UK and Ireland on Oasis’s official X account, fans around the world are celebrating the long-awaited reunion.

Long-time fans, still haunted by past experiences, are remaining cautious. There are worries that the reunion could fall apart due to further conflicts or that Liam might drop out of the tour midway. Despite these concerns, excitement is at an all-time high.
As someone who started listening to Oasis only after their disbandment, I often think about how I might have seen them live if I’d discovered them earlier. Even though I wasn’t around during their active years, my anticipation is through the roof. One can only imagine the feverish excitement of long-time fans.
Live Forever: Oasis 30th Anniversary Exhibition
Amidst all the hype, the exhibition celebrating Oasis’s 30th anniversary, ‘Live Forever: Oasis 30th Anniversary Exhibition,’ will open at Roppongi Museum on November 1st (Friday). A perfectly timed showcase.
2024 marks a major milestone for Oasis, celebrating 30 years since the release of their debut album and their first visit to Japan. To commemorate this special anniversary, the new exhibition will explore the band’s lasting appeal and unique legacy from multiple angles.
In 2014, the first Oasis exhibition in Japan, ‘CHASING THE SUN: OASIS 1993 – 1997 – What Oasis Means to You?,’ was a huge success, drawing 10,000 visitors despite its brief four-day run. Now, ten years later, this new exhibition will feature many rare items not included last time, such as the band’s instruments, handwritten lyrics, and iconic early posters.
The exhibition will include a photo spot recreating album artwork and a space where visitors can relive past live performances, providing a deep dive into the enduring appeal of Oasis and their memorable songs. Titled after ‘Live Forever,’ which Noel Gallagher has described as a “timeless masterpiece” and his most important song, the exhibition is set to open with tickets available for purchase in early September.
Oasis has sold over 75 million records worldwide. Although the band stopped performing together in 2009, their song ‘Wonderwall’ made history in 2020 as the first 90s track to reach 1 billion streams globally. According to a 2023 BBC report, their albums ‘Morning Glory’ and ‘Definitely Maybe’ ranked first and second in the ‘Most Streamed 90s Albums in the UK.’ In Japan, their music continues to be featured in films, television, and commercials.
Oasis remains a band that garners enduring, fervent support across generations, transcending time and borders. The Live Forever: Oasis 30th Anniversary Exhibition promises to be a compelling experience of discovery, celebration, and excitement.
