YAWN YARD was inspired by the idea of creating a space where you can stay, unwind, and connect with the land in a way similar to the locals. The first facility is set to open on Kouri Island, Okinawa. These one-of-a-kind retreats offer lodging experiences that emphasize the local climate, natural surroundings, and regional lifestyle aesthetics, fostering a harmonious connection between nature and guests.
YAWN YARD Kouri Island features a total of eight guest rooms, divided into two areas: (sea) and (hill). The (sea) area includes five rooms, while the (hill) area has three. Each garden, inspired by its respective sea or hill landscape, offers a spacious semi-outdoor setting.
There are two rooms beneath a large roof, designed to provide a relaxed and private space, perfect for families with children to enjoy a comfortable stay.
Meals include a choice of three dinners and three breakfasts, each inspired by traditional Okinawan home cooking. The options emphasize eating together and embrace the concept of ‘kusuimun,’ which views food as a vital component of well-being. The dishes feature rare indigenous and island vegetables all sourced locally, produced in small quantities with the help of local farmers. Meals are served on the dining terrace of the guest rooms, providing a lively, communal setting for guests to enjoy their food.
YAWN YARD Kouri Island offers a chance to rediscover the charm of Okinawa’s changing seasons. Embrace this unique retreat and unwind as you enjoy the garden views and savor exquisite meals.
