Timed to coincide with Expo 2025 Osaka, Espace Louis Vuitton Osaka will present the exhibition INFINITY – Selected Works from the Collection from July 16, 2025 to January 12, 2026. Featuring works from Yayoi Kusama’s early career through to the present, the exhibition highlights the breadth of her creative expression while tracing the recurring themes that have guided her practice over the decades.

This exhibition is part of the Hors-les-murs (Beyond the Walls) program, which brings works from the Fondation Louis Vuitton collection to Espace Louis Vuitton locations in cities such as Tokyo, Munich, Venice, Beijing, Seoul, and Osaka. Through this global initiative, the Fondation aims to share its collection with a broader international audience.
A Unique World Shaped by Hallucinations and Creation as a Form of Self-Healing
Yayoi Kusama has expressed her creativity across many fields, including painting, sculpture, performance art, fiction, and fashion. At the heart of her work is a powerful sense of individuality, consistently reflected in creations that are deeply personal.

At the heart of Kusama’s work is a vivid hallucination she experienced around the age of ten. She saw her entire room covered in floral patterns and eventually felt herself blending into them. This powerful vision shaped her unique perspective and became the driving force behind her creativity. What she calls a process of “self-therapy” involves compulsively repeating certain motifs, which serve as a key form of expression.
Her 1960s series like Infinity Nets and Dots have since evolved into depictions of stars, cells, and floating shapes. While her style keeps evolving, it consistently reflects her ongoing effort to give shape to her inner fears and obsessions.

A standout piece in the exhibition is Infinity Mirror Room – Phalli’s Field (or Floor Show) (1965 / 2013), Kusama’s very first infinity mirror room. It invites visitors into a seemingly endless world of polka dots, creating a truly immersive experience.
If you’re visiting the Osaka Expo, make sure to add this to your travel plans. It’s a must-see for art lovers and fans of Kusama’s visionary work.
