epulor, the stylish, popular listening café and bar in Nakameguro, has opened a new Daikanyama location called epulor on the winding path.

Exit Daikanyama Station’s east exit and head toward Ebisu. Moving away from the bustle of Kyu-Yamate-dori and Hachiman-dori, the streets grow quieter. Partway up a winding slope with a distinctly local, laidback charm sits epulor on the winding path.

The Significance of the winding path
Climbing the stairs and opening the door, you enter a quiet space filled with the aroma of coffee and soft music. The cool, raw concrete feels refreshingly calming. Inside, a single counter curves gently along the room, perfectly fitting the space’s flow.

Just like the path where the cafe and bar sits, life rarely follows a straight, easy course. epulor on the winding path is meant to be a quiet place for those navigating life’s twists and turns. It is a spot to pause, reflect, and find meaning, like a resting perch along the way.
If you look closely at the counter, you’ll notice that different materials are combined in sections. By joining together varieties of textures like Genkai stone and concrete, the design expresses a beauty that isn’t uniform but uniquely varied.

When the Unexpected Sparks New Curiosities
The sound system features a Technics SL1500C turntable, a Luxman L507Z amplifier, and TANNOY Cheviot speakers. Compared to the airy, floating sound characteristic of Nakameguro epulor, this location delivers a clearer, more transparent audio experience. Despite the music playing, the space somehow feels quietly serene.

The records are selected from a wide range of genres, including jazz, rock, electro, pop, and alternative. The music isn’t limited to any particular genre, and curated in a way to keep the format open. It allows visitors to stumble upon new tracks, or even songs they may have forgotten about.
In today’s world, where algorithms recommend music and content based on our interests, it’s easy to become trapped in our own narrow bubble without even realizing it. These kinds of chance discoveries, which are rare in the digital world, might actually be a key to broadening and enriching our lives.
“We hope that not only the music genres but also the different elements of this space can be gateways to new interests,” says staff member Inami. “For example, we focus on natural wine at epulor, so wine lovers might come here and discover the charm of coffee, or coffee lovers might discover a newfound passion for records.”
Inami works as a professional advertising photographer by day and at night works at epulor on the winding path. Because his photography career demands creative output, he values being in an environment that fuels fresh inspiration.

How Each Staff Member’s Creativity Shapes Epulor
When we previously covered epulor in Nakameguro, what stood out was how freely the staff’s own ideas and personal style could shape the menu and décor. That same spirit is alive here in Daikanyama, where you’ll find items like a Luigi Ghirri photography book from Inami’s own collection. With the Tokyo Photographic Art Museum in Ebisu currently holding an exhibition*, he brought it in from home to share with visitors.

Luigi Ghirri’s work titled “It’s beautiful here, isn’t it.” Discovering it here might just inspire someone to visit the exhibition.
Like the Nakameguro location, the drink menu focuses on hand-dripped specialty coffee and natural wine, complemented by selections of gin, whisky, and more. The food menu includes a house-made cherry pie available only in Daikanyama. Created by the staff, its sweet-tart flavor and fragrant cherries pair beautifully with both coffee and cocktails.

Cherry Pie – ¥500
Liqueur Au Lait Glace – ¥1,200
Compared to the popular Nakameguro epulor, which draws a younger crowd, this newer Daikanyama location seems to attract a somewhat older, more settled clientele. Perhaps due to its recent opening or the character of the neighborhood.
Here, beautiful music drowns out the noise, creating a serene atmosphere that sharpens your senses. Where you may be along life’s path, it’s the perfect place to go when you want to turn inward and find some calm.
