On Wednesday, November 13, 2024, ‘Shibuya Zetton,’ a blend of Japanese tavern and international pub styles, opened on a backstreet off Shibuya’s Miyamasuzaka.
Spanning approximately 200 square meters on a single floor, the spacious venue is divided into areas for every occasion: a standing area reminiscent of an international pub, lively counter seating, dining tables, and private rooms for more intimate gatherings. The interior is designed with a unique ‘re-imported’ Japanese aesthetic blending international flair with Japanese motifs, featuring stained glass art of tigers and cranes and a sushi-bar-style counter for added charm.
The concept behind SHIBUYA ZETTON is to savor with the palate, drink and enjoy, with a culinary experience rooted in Japanese cuisine but blending with a variety of other styles. The signature menu features creative dishes like ‘Thai Curry Fried Spring Rolls’ and the uniquely crunchy ‘Shibuya’s PARIPI (“Party Pepper”),’ which pairs crisp raw green peppers with simmered pork. Fresh ‘Live Anago Sashimi,’ sourced from Toyosu Market’s respected wholesaler Mizunaga, is another standout, alongside hand-rolled sushi made by skilled chefs. There’s even a vegan-friendly option, such as the ‘Sticky Vegetable’ sushi, for those with dietary preferences.

The drink menu features a range of options, from beer and chuhais to sours, as well as natural wines and craft beers. The signature drink, ‘Shibu 1 Lemon Chuhai,’ features a refreshing dill aroma and pairs perfectly with meat dishes.

In addition to dinner hours, the venue offers a ‘Happy Late Lunch’ starting at 3 PM for those who miss lunch, along with a ‘Happy Hour’ for a cheap and cheerful experience. This approach is designed to fit the lifestyle of the many professionals working in Shibuya, home to IT startups and fashion companies. The space also features a DJ booth, with plans to host events in the future. Given its location, collaborations with fashion brands are also expected. Like SHIBUYA AXSH, which opened in July 2024, this spot is sure to help further energize the ‘Aozhi’ area connecting Aoyama and Shibuya.
