Inspired by a desire to bring the elegance of kimono fashion to everyday style, KOTOWA launched in 2023. Previously highlighted on ZEROMILE, its signature Duo Coat returns this season in three distinct new textiles, seamlessly blending tradition with modern versatility.
Fine Fabrics and Exquisite Colors
The khaki Scottish tweed pairs easily with both casual and classic styles, while the silk-blend tweed in pale gray adds a striking contrast to the darker tones often seen in winter. The dark brown Italian cashmere, with its smooth, chocolate-like sheen, rounds out the collection, offering a perfect balance of versatility and sophistication.
■Khaki
The earthy color favored by LOVAT, a company founded in 1863 in Hawick, Scotland, the birthplace of tweed. The khaki base is woven with a mix of threads in shades of beige, orange, and brown, creating a rich, layered color. The fabric’s crisp texture accentuates the collar and overall silhouette of the Duo Coat, making them beautifully stand out. This piece also pairs wonderfully with sharp kimono styles like tsumugi or geometric prints.

This plain-weave tweed combines 100% silk tsumugi threads and twisted wool yarn in the warp with dynamic loop yarn in the weft, resulting in a fabric with a beautiful sheen and lightweight texture. The interplay of white and pale gray adds elegant depth, making it effortlessly versatile and easy to pair with any kimono pattern or color.

■Dark Brown / Cashmere
This luxurious cashmere, with its beautiful sheen, is crafted by LUIGI COLOMBO, one of Italy’s premier fabric makers. The deep brown hue is both classic and timeless, offering a perfect blend of refinement and versatility. Perfectly suited for everything from solid-colored kimonos to subtle patterns, semi-formal tsukesage, and even striking hōmongi, it’s a piece that adds enduring sophistication to any ensemble.

The Duo Coat retains its signature features, such as the collar and sleeves, while now being available in three sizes: 00 (S), 01 (M), and 02 (L), with the addition of a smaller size. For the dark brown version, the wool boa lining inside the pockets is made of the same material as the lining to preserve the coat’s sleek silhouette.
Even if you already own a kimono coat, the Duo Coat’s attractive color options make it a great choice for a second piece. Its versatile design works well with oversized tops and voluminous sleeves, making it a stylish and functional addition to any wardrobe.
